This 14 Days Bush to Beach Vacation is designed for travellers who want the best of Tanzania in one smooth journey: northern safari landscapes, famous wildlife areas and a relaxed Zanzibar beach ending. The trip begins in Arusha, continues through Tarangire, Lake Manyara or Karatu, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, then finishes with several nights on Zanzibar Island.
The safari section gives guests time to enjoy different wildlife environments instead of rushing through one park after another. Tarangire brings elephant country and baobab scenery, the Lake Manyara and Karatu area adds Rift Valley beauty and highland atmosphere, Serengeti offers classic big-cat territory, and Ngorongoro Crater delivers one of Tanzania’s most iconic safari days.
After the bush experience, Zanzibar changes the rhythm completely. Beach days allow travellers to rest after early game drives, enjoy the ocean, explore Stone Town or spice farms if they choose, and end the trip with a softer island feeling before departure.
This tour works especially well for guests who do not want to choose between safari and beach. It gives enough time for meaningful wildlife viewing while still protecting several days for rest, romance and Indian Ocean relaxation.
Begin your Tanzanian adventure in Arusha, the vibrant gateway to the Northern Safari Circuit and the perfect starting point for exploring the country’s spectacular national parks.
Discover Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and seasonal wildlife movements. Enjoy exciting game drives through diverse landscapes while spotting lions, giraffes, zebras, and other fascinating wildlife.
Journey through Lake Manyara, Karatu, and the Ngorongoro Highlands, enjoying lush landscapes, scenic farmlands, and breathtaking views. Experience the region’s rich cultural atmosphere and discover the beauty of Tanzania’s countryside along the way.
Continue your adventure to Zanzibar by flight or transfer and unwind on its beautiful white-sand beaches. Enjoy turquoise waters, tropical island scenery, and a relaxing coastal escape after your exciting wildlife safari.
On this route
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be welcomed by your Watoto Wa Bingwa Safaris & Tours representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. This first day is intentionally relaxed so you can recover from your journey and settle into Tanzania before the safari begins.
Depending on arrival time, you may rest at the hotel, enjoy dinner, meet your safari guide or receive a short briefing about the route, packing reminders and the next morning’s departure. Arusha is a natural starting point for the northern safari circuit because it connects easily to Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti.
After breakfast, your bush-to-beach adventure begins as you depart Arusha with your private safari guide and drive toward Tarangire National Park. The journey introduces you to northern Tanzania’s countryside before reaching one of the region’s most atmospheric parks.
Tarangire is famous for large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, open savannah, seasonal swamps and the Tarangire River, which draws wildlife during the dry season. During your game drive, you may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, antelope, lions and rich birdlife.
This is a beautiful first safari day because Tarangire feels wild, scenic and less rushed. In the late afternoon, continue to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Today you continue toward the Lake Manyara and Karatu area. Depending on the final route and park permits, the day may include a Lake Manyara game drive, a scenic highland transfer, a cultural visit or a slower day around the Rift Valley region.
Lake Manyara National Park is known for groundwater forest, lake views, elephants, baboons, hippos and birdlife. Even when wildlife sightings vary by season, the park adds a different landscape from Tarangire and Serengeti.
By evening, you will settle in the Karatu or Ngorongoro highland area. This region is cooler, greener and surrounded by farms, forested slopes and views toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is a comfortable base before continuing to the Serengeti.
After breakfast, depart toward Serengeti National Park. The journey may pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with changing scenery as the highlands open into the plains. This is one of the most exciting transition days of the safari because the landscape begins to feel truly endless.
Depending on timing, you may enjoy game viewing en route before reaching Central Serengeti. This region is known for strong year-round wildlife, especially around the Seronera area where permanent water sources support predators and plains animals.
Arrive at your Serengeti camp or lodge, settle in and enjoy the evening sounds of the wilderness. This marks the heart of the bush section of the journey.
Today is dedicated to exploring Central Serengeti. Your guide may recommend an early start to take advantage of cooler temperatures, soft morning light and predator activity. Central Serengeti is one of Tanzania’s most reliable wildlife areas and often rewards patience.
You may search for lions resting on kopjes, leopards in riverine trees, cheetahs on open plains, hyenas near dens, elephants moving between feeding areas and large herds of zebras, gazelles and wildebeest. Sightings depend on season and wildlife movement, but this region usually offers excellent safari variety.
A full day here allows the experience to slow down. Instead of simply moving from one destination to another, you can spend time observing animal behaviour, waiting at sightings and enjoying photography.
This additional Serengeti day is one of the strengths of the itinerary. More time in the park gives your guide flexibility to explore different areas based on recent sightings, weather, road conditions and your interests.
Some days may focus on big cats and open plains. Other days may include river valleys, hippo pools, giraffes, elephants, buffalo, birdlife and classic Serengeti landscapes. Your guide may suggest a packed lunch so you can stay out longer and avoid returning to camp during prime wildlife hours.
By the end of the day, you will have a deeper feeling for the Serengeti beyond quick highlights. Return to camp for dinner and your final night in the park.
After breakfast, begin the journey from Serengeti toward the Ngorongoro or Karatu area. This is a scenic travel day with possible game viewing as you cross through Serengeti landscapes and continue toward the highlands.
Your guide will manage the pace carefully, balancing wildlife opportunities with the need to reach your lodge before evening. The route is long but beautiful, and the changing scenery helps connect the open plains with the crater highlands.
Arrive in the Ngorongoro/Karatu area for dinner and overnight. This stop positions you well for the next day’s crater tour.
Today you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater is one of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destinations, combining dramatic scenery with a high concentration of animals in a compact area.
During the game drive, you may see lions, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, elephants and, with luck, black rhino. The crater landscape includes grassland, swamp, forest and lake areas, giving the day a different feeling from the wide Serengeti plains.
After the crater experience, continue back toward Arusha. This overnight stop creates a comfortable bridge between the mainland safari and the Zanzibar beach section.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar Island. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town or directly to the beach area, depending on the final package setup.
Zanzibar brings a complete change of pace after the safari. The island is known for Indian Ocean beaches, Swahili culture, historic Stone Town, spice farms, marine activities and sunset atmosphere.
Spend the afternoon at leisure. You may rest after the flight, walk along the beach, enjoy the hotel facilities or begin exploring the island gently.
Today can be planned around culture, beach time or a mix of both. If staying in Stone Town, you may explore historic streets, markets, architecture, the waterfront and local food culture. If staying at the beach, the day can remain relaxed with optional island excursions.
Popular optional experiences include a Stone Town walking tour, spice farm visit, Prison Island, local market visit or sunset dhow cruise. These activities should be confirmed based on guest interest and the final package.
By evening, settle into the island rhythm and enjoy a slower pace after the safari days.
